Ahmed Mustapha Goniri Esq is an Independent Non-Executive Director at the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA). He is also the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council of the Yobe State University Damaturu, Yobe State.
Mr. Goniri graduated from the University of Maiduguri in 1995 and proceeded to the Nigerian Law school, Lagos in 1996. He subsequently attended the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, Lagos in 1997.
He has served in various capacities in the Nigerian Public Service where he leveraged his experience as a lawyer to positively shape outcomes in the legal profession. He was previously the Senior State Counsel, Ministry of Justice, Yobe State; Legal Draftsman, Yobe State House of Assembly; Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Yobe State and Member, Yobe State Judicial Service Commission.
Mr Goniri is a Life Member, Body of Benchers of Nigeria – the body of practitioners of the highest distinction in the legal profession responsible for overseeing and regulating the admission of persons into the legal profession by administering fair and rigorous assessments for the formal call to the Bar, nurturing ethical conduct, and fostering continuous professional development. He is the Presiding Member, Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee; Member, International Dispute Resolution Institute; Member, International Bar Association (IBA) and Member, Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).
