He previously served as the Group Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Airtel Africa PLC which is a FTSE 100 Company providing mobile telecommunications and financial services in 14 countries. He retired from Airtel Africa PLC in June, 2024 and currently serves as the Chairman of Airtel Africa Foundation. He is also a director on the Board of Nigeria Economic Summit Group. He is a Co-Chair of the B20 Task Force on Digital Transformation for the G20 summit in South Africa later this year.
Additionally, Dr Ogunsanya served as the Managing Director of the Nigerian Bottling Company Ltd (Coca-Cola Hellenic owned bottling operation), CEO of Coca-Cola Sabco in Kenya, General Manager of Coca-Bottling Company of Ghana, Group Head of Retail Banking operations at Ecobank Transnational Inc. covering 28 countries in Africa, and held various other roles within Coca-Cola in Ghana and Nigeria.
He is a recipient of a Doctor of Science (D.Sc Ed, Honoris Causa) in Computer Science Education from Tai Solarin University of Education, a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Fellow of the Institute of Credit Administration, Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, and Fellow of the Institute of Directors. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University).
He was presented with a Lifetime Business Achievement Award in 2024 at the House of Lords by Africa Leadership Magazine.
